Deep maintenance of electric vehicle chargers can be carried out from the following aspects:
Use a dedicated charger: The parameters of chargers vary among different vehicle models. Replacing them at will may lead to abnormal charging and even damage the battery and charger. When charging at multiple locations, you can ask a professional to provide a dedicated charger.
Protecting the charger: The charger does not adopt a vehicle-mounted design and is not resistant to strong vibrations. When moving the charger, it should be wrapped with foam plastic to prevent the internal components from loosening or getting damaged due to jolts.
Timely charging: Battery sulfation begins 12 hours after discharge. Timely charging can remove mild sulfation crystals. If not charged in time, coarse crystals will form, leading to a decrease in battery capacity and a shortened lifespan. It is recommended to charge the battery in time after daily use to keep it fully charged.
It is strictly prohibited to store the battery in a state of low charge: When the battery is stored in a state of low charge, sulfation is likely to occur. Lead sulfate crystals will adhere to the plates, blocking the ion channels, resulting in insufficient charging and a decrease in battery capacity. When not in use, it should be recharged once a month.
Avoid high current discharge: When starting, carrying passengers or going uphill, electric vehicles should avoid sudden acceleration as much as possible. Sudden high current discharge can damage the physical properties of the battery plates.
Master the charging time: Generally, the battery should be charged for about ten hours to avoid overcharging. Arrange for charging during the trip in advance to ensure the battery is fully charged.
Ensure good ventilation: When charging, make sure the charger is well-ventilated to prevent the plug from overheating. The possible causes of heating could be a loose plug or oxidation of the contact surface. When such situations are detected, the oxide should be removed or the connectors replaced in a timely manner.
Regular deep discharge: Regularly performing deep discharge on the battery helps activate its properties and increase its capacity. The specific method is to ride a bike on a flat road under normal load until the first undervoltage protection is achieved, and then fully charge.
Cleaning the exterior: Before each cleaning, be sure to cut off the power supply of the charger first. Wipe the charger casing with a clean soft cloth to remove dust and stains on the surface. When encountering stubborn stains, you can dip a small amount of mild cleaner and gently wipe them, but be careful not to let the liquid flow into the charger.
Clean the vents: Vents are crucial for the heat dissipation of the charger. A soft-bristled brush or compressed air can be used to clean the dust at the ventilation outlets to prevent poor heat dissipation of the charger due to dust blockage.
Check the connection cables: Regularly inspect the power cord and charging cable to see if there are any signs of damage, breakage or aging. Once a problem is found, it should be replaced in time to avoid leakage or abnormal charging. Meanwhile, check if the interface is loose to ensure a firm connection.
Keep the interface clean: Regularly wipe the charging interface with a clean cloth or sponge to remove dust and debris to prevent poor contact.
Internal maintenance: Due to the complex internal structure of the charger, opening the casing for internal cleaning and inspection should be carried out by professionals. Regularly clean the internal dust and check whether the components on the circuit board are damaged or de-soldered. If any abnormality is found, repair or replace them in time.
Regular maintenance: Based on the usage frequency and working environment of the charger, comprehensive maintenance should be carried out regularly. Check if the screws are loose and if the cooling fan is operating normally, etc., to ensure that the charger is always in good working condition.
