When choosing a suitable charger based on the battery capacity of an electric vehicle, one can start from aspects such as battery parameter matching, charging demand adaptation, safety and quality considerations. The following is a specific analysis:
Battery parameter matching
Determine the battery voltage: Check the original charger or the battery itself to determine the battery voltage. For example, the original charger output corresponding to a 48V battery is approximately 59V, and that corresponding to a 60V battery is 73.5V. If the battery is marked as 6-DZM-12/20, each battery is 12V, and four batteries make up 48V. If it is 8-DZM-12/20, each battery is 16V, and four batteries make up 64V.
Determine the battery capacity: You can judge the battery capacity by checking the original charger, the battery itself or based on the mileage. An output current of 1.8A indicates that the battery is 12AH. 6-DZM-12 is 12AH, and 6-DZM-20 is 20AH. A 12AH charger is suitable for running 25 to 40 kilometers on a full charge, and a 20AH charger is appropriate for running 45 to 60 kilometers.
Matching the positive and negative terminals of the charger: Use a multimeter to measure the charging port of the electric vehicle battery to find the positive and negative terminals. Make sure the output of the purchased charger is consistent with the charging port. Reversing it will damage the charger and the battery.
Charging demand adaptation
Charging speed requirement: If you often travel long distances or are in a hurry to charge, choose a high-power charger. The higher the power, the faster the charging. However, you need to consider the carrying capacity of the home power grid. Some families have to upgrade their power system to support high-power chargers. If there is more time, a charger with slightly lower power can also meet the demand.
Charging type selection: Understand the charging type, which is divided into standard and fast types. Choose based on your own needs.
Safety and quality considerations
Charger quality judgment: A good charger has positive and negative pulse technology, which can prevent and eliminate battery sulfation polarization, extend battery life, and also has intelligent timing protection, automatic temperature compensation, power grid instantaneous impact protection, and super moisture-proof and anti-corrosion functions.
Safety protection function: Determine whether the charger has overvoltage, overcurrent, overheating and short circuit protection functions. This is very important for the safety of the car battery and the vehicle.
