To maintain the tensile performance of the charging gun wire of an electric vehicle charger, multiple aspects such as daily use, regular inspection, storage management, and professional maintenance should be taken into account. The following are specific measures:
Standardize the plugging and unplugging operation
When inserting the charging gun, make sure the plug is fully aligned with the socket. Insert it gently to avoid applying force. When unplugging, first press the unlock button. Wait until the plug separates from the socket, then gently pull it out. It is strictly forbidden to directly pull the cable.
Avoid forcibly pulling the gun during the charging process to prevent the copper wire inside the cable from breaking or the insulation layer from being damaged due to external force pulling.
Avoid excessive stretching of the cables
When charging, organize the cable direction properly to prevent the cable from being run over by the vehicle or subjected to external forces, so as to avoid excessive stretching of the cable, which may cause the core to break or separate from the charging gun.
If there is slight wear on the cable, it can be wrapped with insulating tape and made firm. If the damage is severe, the cable needs to be replaced immediately.
Check the condition of the cables regularly
Check the appearance of the cable daily for any damage or aging, especially at the connection points and bends. Replace it in time if wear or exposed core is found.
Measure the insulation resistance of the cable with an insulation resistance tester every month to ensure that the value is within the specified range and prevent the risk of leakage.
Optimize the storage environment
The charging gun cable should avoid being left on the ground for a long time to prevent the ground from getting damp and reducing its insulation capacity.
When storing, choose a dry and well-ventilated place, avoiding direct sunlight or proximity to heat sources to prevent the cables from aging rapidly due to high temperatures.
Professional maintenance and testing
Check and tighten the charging cable terminal blocks every six months to ensure a firm connection.
Every year, the charging gun should be sent to a professional institution for inspection, with a focus on checking the tensile strength, insulation performance and aging of internal components of the cables.
Use protective measures
When charging in a humid environment or on rainy days, make sure the charging port is dry to prevent moisture from entering the cable and causing a short circuit.
Consider using a moisture-proof box to store the charging gun cable to reduce the internal humidity and extend its service life.
